Life in the VMC will be inspired living. Festival residents will have direct access to all the amenities on offer at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC), either through connected building crosswalks or pedestrian paths. The VMC Secondary Plan splits the area into 12 districts, each envisioned to have a distinct purpose or urban function. Festival Condos are located in the heart of the designated Entertainment District a year-round destination for exciting and fun activities including major entertainment anchors such as cultural facilities, museums, and regional sports-entertainment venues.
Parks & Recreation
Life at Festival Condos will balance and blend the urban with the suburban, giving residents the convenience of downtown with the open space and relaxed comfort of a suburban lifestyle. A close connection to nature will be maintained with thoughtfully planned landscaped areas, green spaces and a pedestrian promenade. Festival Condos will be anchored by a linear park, part of Vaughan’s Black Creek Renewal project. Once complete, the Black Creek Renewal will establish a series of promenades, plazas and parks, spanning over 30 acres in downtown Vaughn.
For sports and fitness enthusiasts, Trio Sportsplex and Vaughan Sportsplex offer year-round indoor sports facilities covering a variety of activities such as soccer and hockey. For thrill-seekers, Canada’s Wonderland and Skyzone are nearby.
The City of Vaughan and the YMCA have together invested in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre YMCA, currently in fundraising and development. The new 77,000 square-foot YMCA will feature brand-new amenities including a full-sized gymnasium, pools, multi-purpose fitness studio and weight room.
Shopping & Entertainment
Residents at Festival Condos will be surrounded by a variety of convenient shopping options. Renowned shopping centres Vaughan Mills and Yorkdale Shopping Centre are a short drive or quick subway ride away. For movie lovers, the Cineplex Colossus is there with the latest Hollywood releases and new independent films.
Public Transit & Highways
Festival Condos residents have the convenience of a number of public transportation options close by. Subway access is just a few quick steps away at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station, getting riders to Union Station in less than 45 minutes. Several York Region Transit (YRT), Viva and Brampton Transit bus routes intersect close to Festival Condos and VMC.
For drivers, Highways 400, 407, and 7 are within a short driving distance giving easy access in and out of Vaughan and connecting residents with the GTA.
Education
Festival Condos is close to major post-secondary institutions, a short 5 minutes subway ride to York University’s Keele campus, one of the biggest university campuses in Canada with over 60,000 registered students and 7,000 faculty staff. University of Toronto’s St. George Campus is a 25 minutes subway ride away.
Future Development
Through Vaughan’s Secondary Plan, the Municipal and Provincial Governments have made substantial investments in the city’s growth and developments, specifically focusing on developing VMC’s residential and employment hubs.
Vaughan’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is offering competitive incentives to encourage office development in downtown Vaughan and VMC, with the goal of growing its demographics of skilled professionals to the largest employment hub in the York region. The CIP has fostered the development of 1.5 million sq. ft. of office space, attracting globally-recognized employers such as PWC and KPMG.
Mackenzie Health Hospital is on track for a 2020 completion, which will offer Canada’s first fully integrated smart technology and further support Vaughan’s healthcare and job opportunity needs.
